Prerequisites
The below prerequisites are outlined in the Fiscal Sponsorship Handbook.
Form a Governing Body (e.g. board, steering committee, executive committee)
Oregon’s law requires board officers to include a President/Chair and a Secretary. Other common officer roles are Vice President/ Vice Chair and Treasurer.
Register with the Oregon Secretary of State: Register your organization as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation (DNP). You will need to renew online annually by filing an annual report.
Your renewal date aligns with the date you file, not the fiscal year you abide by.
Articles of incorporation: File these with the Oregon Secretary of State and send a copy to District 4 Coalition. Instructions available here.
Oregon Department of Justice, Charitable Activities: Register as a Charity. You will also need to file annual reports.
Complete the Fiscal Sponsorship Application. You can download/ make a copy of this template to fill out and submit.
The Governing Body meets and approves signing the Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement.
This agreement will be sent to you following submission and review of your application.
